The New Living Translation (NLT) is a Bible translation from the original languages into modern English. Its name was changed from the New Translation in 1997, after a re-examination of the translation process. The NIV is a revision of the NLT, and its name has also been changed from the New International Version to the Contemporary English Version.
In addition to the NIV, another translation by the same committee was published in 1982, the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV). The NIrV was originally intended only as a revision of the NIV, and was produced with a goal of improving readability. It was first published in 1987, and is still in print today. Because it is not a revision of the NIV, the NIrV is not a part of the NIV family of translations.
The New King James Version (NKJV) was published in 1985 and has been revised several times since. It is the best-selling modern Bible translation in the world, and is most known for its use of the text of the King James Version. It is also the most common Bible translation used in the church.
The New American Standard Bible (NASB) was published in 1970, with revisions published in 1975, 1985, and 1995. It reflects the same principles as the NIV and is also used as the basis for a number of other translations, including the New Century Version, the Good News Bible, and the NASU.
The New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) was first published in 1970 and is the only translation of the Bible to be based on the completed form of the original autographs. It is unique in that it is the most literal translation of the Bible ever undertaken.
The second edition of the NIV Bible includes maps, charts, illustrations, and helpful notes. It is a solid edition of the Bible that will provide a wealth of information to the devout and moderate seeker alike. It is an excellent Bible for anyone who wants to learn more about the time in which the Bible was written and about the people and events that it records.

The common New Testament text used by many evangelical publishers is the United Bible SocietiesÂ’ (UBS) Greek New Testament. This text has received the imprimatur of the Council for the Text of the New Testament , a group of scholars from various denominations and Evangelical Christian groups, which acts as the final authority on the textual content of the New Testament. The texts of the early versions of the New Testament are the majority of those available for sale in the US. 827ec27edc
