I want to use the laptop as a laptop as well so that it fits into the place of my current Microsoft Surface as well as the Razer Blade 15. Currently the laptop is lit up by the 1366 x 768 display panel so if I want to opt out of the laptop mode and use it in more of a desktop mode, it has to be in the eGPU mode although I have not tried that yet. This is also why I want to make sure that the current laptop at least gets around this issue because it's ridiculous to run an nVIDIA gpu in pure laptop mode at all.
Lastly to add to your list, the Gigabyte Z270Nh3n2 currently has a 9Wh battery in it. I haven't checked the maximum power or run time yet but I can say that it's seemingly a solid battery and solid machine overall. I've had it for about a month and so far it's done okay. From the reviewers, this laptop does have display issues with 4K and Blue-Colors at times but it's not terrible heavy on the battery and certainly has a longer run time than a W10pt.
The main reason that I want to get this laptop for eGPU is because the Dell XPS 15 is a bit of a weak spot now and honestly, I want a gaming laptop that is my primary for my future gaming needs I need something more durable, faster and powerful with more RAM like 32GB. I know that the desktop (my current) does have 16GB max but I mean to get more.
Lastly, I am aware of USB 2.0 being limited to 1.5A at 5V for a total of 5.5W. In installing the eGPU, I paired the card to a Male to Male female adapter and not a male to female which means that it's not on the edge of the adapter but even still I think that's a bit much for the 5V output of the Card (if the sticker is even current) which would be 3.75W of output d2c66b5586
